This course is intended for all workers in the petroleum industry who could be exposed to hydrogen sulphide (H2S). The primary focus is to help people work safely in and around H2S environments. The course covers the physical properties and health hazards of H2S, how to protect oneself, and basic rescue techniques.
Each participant is required to operate a self-contained breathing apparatus and perform rescue lift and drag exercises. Minimum age required to attend: 16
Completion Requirements:
100% attendance, skills demonstration, and 70% min. passing grade
Certification:
Each participant will receive a certificate for this course valid for three years upon successful completion.

Standard First Aid bolt-on (Blended learning):
The first aid component is no longer a module within the H2S Alive program, however it is expected that workers involved with projects where H2S is present be trained in Standard First Aid through a recognized agency, such as the Red Cross. To work in the oil fields, most companies require Canadian Red Cross Standard First Aid which is a 16 hour course. It is usually conducted over 2 full days.
IRESCUE TRAINING offers a Red Cross BLENDED Standard First Aid bolt-on option for our H2S Alive students whereby you complete an online portion of your first aid training at home, at your own pace. Then, you join us for a full weekend of training at a location with convenient accommodations; H2S training on the Saturday, then a practical day of Red Cross training on the Sunday.
You complete the weekend with two certifications! Both certifications are valid for 3 years, so when it comes time to re-take your H2S Alive training, you can recertify your first aid at the same time.
